Everything You Need To Know About RSA Adelaide…
It is compulsory for any person in the liquor industry who is serving alcohol to complete their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate. There are no specific RSA Adelaide certificate courses available, however if you plan on working in the State of South Australia, and specifically Adelaide, completing the Nationally Accredited Responsible Service of Alcohol training is essential. The course is aimed to provide staff that are serving/supplying liquor with the skills to deal with patrons who are consuming alcohol, and to educate them on the potential effects of alcohol.

Why Do You Have To Complete
An RSA Certificate?
It is really important that people have an understanding of the effects alcohol can have on individuals and the legal responsibilities of those that supply liquor. An RSA course aims to teach people about the following;
- Dealing with difficult or intoxicated patrons
- Determining a standard drink
- Benefits of RSA in Adelaide
- Improving the atmosphere of the venue
- Refusing Alcohol to Minors
- Dealing with conflict situations
What If I am Under the Age of 18?
As you are not required to serve or consume alcohol whilst doing the RSA course, you can complete the certification before you turn 18. However, you cannot be employed to serve liquor until you are 18 years of age.
Are most employers willing or able to give you a job without a RSA, provided you obtain it within a specified period?
Hi David,
Thank you for your message. Some employers are willing to do this as long as you obtain the certificate within the first thirty days and as long this is allowed in the particular state that you are in. However, it is always favourable that you complete it before finding a job. From my experience as a manager, It’s just one of those things that an employer will look for on a resume and if there are two candidates, one with an RSA and one without… they can often choose the one with an RSA because it means they don’t have to follow it up and the person has been proactive to ensure they have the certificate. But again, some employers will be more than happy to hire you and then have you complete the RSA Course soon after… Hope this helps!
