What will happen if I don’t complete an RSA course?

All employees of licensed premises are given a leniency of up to 30 days to acquire an RSA certificate as soon as they start working.  However, if a staff or employee is still unable to obtain an RSA certificate after those 30 days, he or she should is asked by his or her employee to stop working.  If you continue to work in any bar without a valid RSA certificate, then you are increasing your risk of committing a serious offence which will end up in fines and charges.

What if I have completed an RSA course
from an unapproved training provider?

If you have completed an RSA course form an unapproved training provider, it is likely you will have to retake the whole RSA course.  This is because the training you have obtained from that training provider is generally neither valid nor recognized by the legal authorities.

What happens if I fail?

If a participant makes a mistake, most training providers allow them to re-do the assessment of up to 4 times.  If he or she continues to fail, they will need to meet with instructors or contact support for a review of the issue.

What If I Am Underage?

If you want to work in a bar in Melbourne, you must be over the age of 18. You can complete your RSA certificate if you are under the age of 18, however you must wait until you are over 18 to use it.
